The Calling of Calvary

The Calling of Calvary

Once I heard Calvary

It was calling my name

Saying, sin has a price to pay

And you are in blame

I could not escape it

Nowhere could I hide

They could not be buried

The sins of my pride

I tried to excuse them

To dodge all my shame

I tried and I tried

But it turned out the same:

What is this Calvary

And why does it call

Why does it make

All my good seem so small

I run and I push

I use all my might

I know the battle’s lost

But still, I must fight

How could this happen

What have I done

To deserve such a battle

That cannot be won

I know what it is now

The price to be paid

For remission of sins

A life must be laid

Why must it call me

Why must I die

My bloods not enough

It will not justify

Wait! I can’t hear it

The calling has ebbed

Something is flowing

It’s warm and it’s red

Redemption has come

The call has been silenced

The heavens are dark

The Earth shakes with valance

Someone bore Calvary

And died on that tree

My burdens been lifted

I’ve been set free

What’s that I’m hearing

My name on the wind

Someone is shouting

THIS HUMAN HAS SINNED

A new voice now speaks

It holds power and presence

IF THEY’LL EXCEPT ME

I’LL PROCLAIM INNOCENTS

Down crashed that Calvary

Of the wicked and vile

He lost to my Jesus

When he took me to trial

Cause bowed down still shaking

From fear and relief

My soul was now spared

Through proclaimed belief

I’m cleaned and I’m cured

Freed from God’s wrath

I’ve chosen His mercy

The straight, narrow path

Once I heard Calvary

It was calling my name

Then I took Jesus

And He took my shame

Oh, what a victory

I must proclaim

Jesus in Heaven is

Now defending my name!!!!!
